From the start/get-go/beginning, it was a disaster/nightmare/mess. The tradesman/contractor/plumber Checkatrade matched/assigned/sent me turned out to be a complete fraud/con artist/scammer. He pocketed/stole/disappeared with my deposit/money/funds, leaving behind a half-finished/incomplete/chaotic job. My bathroom/kitchen/garden is now in even worse shape than before, and I'm left stranded/high and dry/out of pocket.
To make matters worse/more frustrating/even more infuriating, Checkatrade's customer service/support team/helpline was useless/unhelpful/incompetent. I'd heard good things about Checkatrade, so when I needed a carpenter, I thought it would be a good idea to use their service. Boy, was I mistaken! From the get-go, it was a nightmare.
First, finding a trustworthy tradesperson on their site was like looking for a pin in a haystack. The profiles were incomplete, and I had no way of knowing if they were actually any good.
Then there's the interaction. It was terrible. Emails went ignored, phone calls went straight to voicemail, and when more info I did succeed to speak to someone, they were unhelpful.
